One strange thing with the registry number of the Constellation is that it is way below the Constitution's (NCC-1700). Constitution was built first in the line of Constitution class starships so why is Constellation's lower than Constitution's? I always wondered why they didn't just make it NCC-1710 but here's a theory on this oddity, maybe Constellation used to be a Antares class starship, 1017 is pretty close to Antares' registry, and got a major refit.
