The USS Knight (NCC-88770) was the ninth starship built of the Katana-class Federation Command Battleship in the late 24th century.

Together with her sister ships, the Knight was launched from the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in 2384 and was commissioned in 2385.

Eighth Fleet

The Knight was one of three of its class constructed by Starfleet Corps of Engineers for the Eighth Fleet.

The Knight was assigned to serve as the flagship of Task Force Knight, which was part of the Eighth Fleet, under the overall command of Admiral Thomas Henry.

Deployment

The Knight and its task force patrol the area of space controlled by the Federation in the Beta Quadrant, around the general vicinity of Starbase 234.

As flagship of Task Force Knight, it leads 53 other combat-oriented starships during task force formations.

During Condition Green, the Knight was always accompanied by a permanently attached escort complement of one Saber-class Fast frigate, one Defiant-class Tactical frigate, and two Valiant-class Tactical corvettes.

During Condition Yellow, the Knight serves as lead ship of Mission Group Alpha. And during Condition Red-1 it serves as lead ship of Strike Group One.

Like the rest of its task force, the ship's headquarters and home base was Starbase 234.
