For additional meanings of "Excalibur", please see Excalibur (disambiguation).

The USS Excalibur (NCC-26517-A) is a Galaxy-class Battleship in service with Starfleet and the Federation during the late 24th century and was the second ship to bear the name.

The Excalibur-A was launched from the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in 2375, and was commissioned in 2376.

The ship was intended to be placed under the command of Captain Elizabeth Shelby, but when the returning Captain Mackenzie Calhoun on the day of the vessel's dedication, command was turned over to him.

The command crew of the original USS Excalibur was present when the vessel was commissioned. Shortly after the vessel's dedication, Captains Calhoun and Shelby were married on the bridge. The ceremony was presided over by Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

The Excalibur-A was one of the ships to respond to the Borg invasion of the Alpha Quadrant in 2380, joining the battle near Earth. Leading a task group of eight ships, Captain Calhoun joined up with the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-E) (Vanguard) and deferred command to that starship.

By 2385, the Excalibur-A was refitted and attached to the Ninth Fleet as a Battle cruiser, particularly Task Force Resolute.
