This page provides brief guidelines in styling and editing Stories for the Memory Gamma wiki database (MG, for short)

Unlike articles stories have a different procedure for editing. To know how to properly edit an article to MG Standards click here.

TitlesEdit

The titles of a Story should be formatted in the following way.

[[Story:TITLE]] not [[TITLE]]

This will distinguish your story from Articles.

When creating episodes to your story, enter the name the following way. For example in Story:Star Trek: Discovery there is an episode known as Cloud of Earth. This is how the name is entered.

[[Story:ST:D/Cloud of Earth]]

TemplatesEdit

Templates help an article to make a good impression, as well as save time when creating references.

To make use of a template, insert {{template}} into the article page approximately where you would like it to appear, substituting the name of the template inside the {{ }}.

When creating a story, make sure {{nav story}} is placed at the top of the page.

The two main templates used for Stories are {{nav}}, and {{sidebar story}}.

EditingEdit

Unlike articles where everyone can edit, in Story pages only the creator of the page is allowed to edit it. The reason being is that it is the creators own ideas and he/she may not want it to be changed. If you should happen to see a spelling or grammar mistake, the only edit that you are allowed to do is put the template {{copyedit}} and identify the mistake in the Talk Page, where one of the Administrators will investigate this grammar or spelling mistake further. You are not to change it as this error may in fact be deliberate. Administrators may also format a story (which would include styling or adding templates).

AdoptionEdit

Any Story is eligible for adoption when meeting the following criteria:

1. The story does not have any episodes or chapters - basically, a summary.
2. The original author has not made any edits to the story in the past 6 months. (make sure to check page history)
3. There is no {{construction}} template.

• Once a story is found eligible for adoption, admins will add the {{adopt}} template.
• Any user wishing to adopt the story must leave a message on the original author's talk page notifying them of the adoption as a courtesy.
• If no discrepancy is received in 3-5 days, the user wishing to adopt may remove the {{adopt}} template and begin editing.
• If the original author does not wish to have the story adopted, they must place a {{construction}} template in place of adopt.
