Kapera Talys was a Bajoran who served aboard the Bajoran freighter Kejal.
Early life[]
She was born on Bajor in 2309. The Kapera family were prosperous members of a high-ranking religious D'jarra (caste). Talys was broadly educated before beginning her religious training as a teenager. She was generally considered an attentive, inquisitive student, though occasionally too curious in eyes of some instructors. Naturally spiritually inclined, Talys was willing to accede to her family's traditional occupation but chafed under some of the other rules of her Kaperas.
Shortly before her older sister Telani, her only sibling, got married in 2327, Talys remarked that she didn't want to have a "boring, safe life." She became more of a free spirit as she got older and continuously ran afoul of her parents, by continuing to associate with her lower-caste childhood friend, Mava Dazari, and her friend's brother, Mava Tero. By 2329, she had completed her training as a prylar.
Leaving Bajor[]
That year, the second of the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor, her cousin Vedek Kapera Vasan arranged for the departure of herself and the Mava siblings.
The three eventually ended up on Obl'viaan, or Oblivion, an independent orbital city and freeport located near Federation space. It was there in 2330 that Talys heard about the arrival of a Bajoran freighter, rumored to be planning to smuggle supplies to their occupied homeworld, that was seeking new crewmembers.
Aboard the Kejal[]
Talys negotiated their employment aboard the Kejal and she, Mava Dazari, and Mava Tero were the last to join the crew before they departed Oblivion and began their first operation.
