The NX-class starship refit was a mid-22nd century exploration vessel created and operated by Starfleet. The NX-class starship was known for its integration Mark III quanta-type computer systems, dilitihium-reinforcers, and other advanced technologies of its time. The most prominent NX-class refit was the USS Challenger, which was called the "USS Enterprise of it's time" for the many discoveries and first contacts it made from 2165 to 2170.

Physical arrangement[]
The physical arrangement of the NX-class refit was not that different from the original NX-class layout. There was extra rooms, conduits, et cetera here and there, but there wasn't much difference.
The most major different would've been the lack of a corridor in the subsection on the deck the computer core was located, this corridor was removed to fit the above average air conditioning system used to keep the computer cool.
Tactical systems[]
The NX-class refit was armed with sophisticated weapons, ranging from phase cannons to a prototype weapon called an "electromagnetic scrambler". These weapons were put totether by a cooperative of the Vulcan Science Directorate and Starfleet Science. The resulting weapons will be listed below:
Mark III pulsed phase cannons[]
Normal pulsed phase cannons utilized a hardened and coherent beam of energy to cause significant damage on the impact zone. In 2162, the Vulcans discovered ambiplasma, which was a form of plasma which was made up of a mixture of antimatter and matter. The Vulcans tested the industrial and scientific applications of ambiplasma and discovered that when utilized in directed-energy form it had outstanding effects. In 2164, when the NX-class refit was underway, the cooperate of the Vulcan Science Directorate and Starfleet Science decided to turn the ambiplasma into the energy source for the pulsed phase cannon which was to be installed on the refit. When tested the ambiplasma weapon was able to overwhelm the polarized hull plating and greatly nullify its effects. A standard pulsed phase cannon of this time (Mark II) was only able to cause a fluctuation in the polarity of the hull plating every time it was struck.
