The Base Commander, or Station Commander, is the Commanding Officer of a Federation starbase or station. Base Commanders usually hold the minimum rank of Commander for deep space stations. Starfleet officers with the rank of Captain and Rear Admiral (lower grade and upper grade) usually command starbases and large space stations.
